Presentation of Golden Dawn

Hrysi Avgi (Golden Dawn) was the biggest organization of the extreme right in Greece.
According to Wikipedia, Golden Dawn ceased to exist as the separate organization in December 2005, having merged into the Patriotic Alliance (Patriotiki Symmahia), which uses different symbols.

Flags with the meander

The black flag with the red meander reported by Thanos Tzikas from a photography of a speech of the party is probably an unofficial version. According to Wikipedia, the official flag has the red field with the black meander, fimbriated white, while the logotype is a black shield, with the white inner and black outer fimbriations and charged with the white meander. That was the only flag with the meander which I saw at the website of Golden Dawn, whose content is currently very reduced and most of the previously numerous photos are not available now. The only photos of this flag which can currently be found on the Internet are here and here.

Golden Dawn uses several different flags with the Celtic cross, as could have been seen at their website (currently containing none of those previously numerous photos) and still can be seen at the Lonhi, the online shop of Golden Dawn, which sells the copies of these flags. Most of them are charged with the white Celtic cross, which has two fimbriations, the inner one in the field colour and the outer one in white. The flag which, according to its presence on the photos previously available at the site of the organization, was the most frequently used, has the black field; the flag with the red field is less used; this is also true for the flag with the blue field, which employs the same shade of blue as the Greek national flag. The online shop also sells the flags with the white Celtic cross on the green field and with the dark yellow Celtic cross on the black field, but none of those could have been seen at the site of the organization, so their use in real life is yet to be checked.

Golden Dawn also sometimes uses a flag with a large white disc, charged with a black Celtic cross, on the red field. The image at the online shop shows the flag with the disc in the centre, but the photos from the site of the organization were showing flags with the disc close to the hoist, like a similar flag from France. The cover of a book sold at the online shop also shows a flag with such a design, along with several Greek national flags.

Other flags in use

Both versions of Greek national flag are used, but the plain cross flag seems to be used a bit more than the one with the cross and stripes.
The Byzantine flag used by the Greek Orthodox Church is also frequently used, but the flag with the same charges and the reversed colours does not seem to be seen outside the online shop. The flag with the black eagle on the red field is, however, often used (currently shown only on a book cover at the online shop). There seems to be a similar one, with a gold eagle on the red field (not sold by the online shop), but none of the images from the site of the organization were showing it clearly enough for a better description. The plain cross flag of Greece with the black eagle overall also seems not to have been seen outside the Web shop.
